Jackson's Journal

Hello!!

Sorry for the extended silence. I so appreciate the emails and notes letting me know that people out there were thinking of Jackson and wanting to make sure that he has been doing well. It's so nice to know that he's still kept in your thoughts.

And he IS doing well! Everything is going great. He's doing wonderfully in school, just had his 7th birthday, and continues to bring us all so much joy. He's learning to drive a power chair in therapy, and hopefully he'll have one of his own by the end of summer. I'm sure he'll be chasing his sisters around the house in no time. 2010 should prove to be a big equipment year for us... along with the power chair in his future, he's also getting a new stander, an eye gaze communicator (just arrived today!) and hopefully an adapted van as well.

Health-wise he's been doing well. He had a bout of RSV last month that had us worried, but we treated him at home and he had no complications. We managed to dodge the H1N1 flu this year, thank goodness. He was recently switched from GJ tube feedings (into his intestine, via continuous drip from a feeding pump) to G tube feeds (into his stomach, every 3-4 hours). This is much more normal physiologically, and he's really thrived on the change. He's gaining weight and getting taller. It's nice to see some meat on those bones .

The girls are doing well too, just turned three and couldn't be more fun. Life is good .

Again, thank you for checking in on Jackson and keeping him in your thoughts. I always promise to be better about updating this journal, but with summer fun headed our way I probably better not set anyone up for disappointment . If you don't hear from us for a while, assume that everything is wonderful and we're just too busy having fun to update. Believe me, if there's a crisis, here is one of the first places I'd come to get the good thoughts and prayers rolling.
