School Update
Jackson has now been at school for six weeks! He's doing incredibly well. I went with him for the first month to train the staff in his care (and to get used to the idea of leaving him with virtual strangers for 3.5 hours/day) then slowly transitioned my way out, and he's been staying by himself the whole time for about two weeks now. He continues to amaze me with how independent he is - he's had very little trouble with being there alone (no more weepy episodes than he had while I was there, and those are decreasing). Every morning I take him in the class, get him settled, and get his OK before I leave. "OK Jackson, I'm going... you'll be here with your teachers and your friends... is that OK?" And without fail he tells me "YES".
He's been working on the classroom's eye gaze communicator, getting to understand how it works and improving his accuracy. Here's a picture of him using it:
In the message bar on the top is his name, which he spelled with a little help (I deleted the missed hits). On the right side of the screen is a red circle over a mouth - the red circle indicates where he's looking, and the mouth is the box that tells the device to speak what's in the message box. He's saying his name

A new portable eye gaze device comes out this month, and we'll set up a trial of it as soon as possible. Hopefully it will work well for him and we can move forward with the ordering process.
Jackson is also enjoying the social aspects of school. Here he is coloring with some new friends:
Overall it's been going really well. We're excited for him .
Last week we drew a blood sample to check Jackson's donor cells since the decrease in his immune suppressant last month. We should get the results this week some time. Please send up a little "Grow Cells Grow" prayer for him! Thanks!

I've noticed that he's begun to sit with his legs far apart and wondered if maybe he was having hip pain. I hope not...I hope that he's just found a comfy new way to sit.
