Quick update
Jackson started first grade on Monday! He has a new teacher this year. This teacher was hand-picked by the augmentative communication specialist and she seems very good. This is the 4th AAC class she's started or restructured and she clearly understands this population and how to work with them. She's got a huge academic focus, which is really great for Jackson since he's such a smartie 
. The aides all seem really impressed with her which is a good sign.
Jackson's doing good health-wise too which is a huge blessing. His enzyme level and donor cell count has been stable since we took him off immune suppressants so the possibility of a second transplant is moving into the background again. Yay!
I'm pretty freaked out about H1N1. We were told last night that although the CDC isn't recommending school closures across the board, they may still recommend closure to schools with a significant number of medically fragile kids, which J's school has. I'm not sure about the vaccine either. We're getting to the point where Jackson's immune system may be strong enough to start vaccines up again, but going for a brand new H1N1 vax right off the bat makes me very nervous. I don't know. Scary stuff.
The girls are fabulous. I think they're going to start preschool a few mornings a week this month. It's a Montessori school that Marshall's mom used to work with, and both Marshall and his sister attended there until 3rd grade. Very excited about that.
As for me, I'm looking for a second job. I've got a few good leads and hopefully I'll end up with something I can do from home. With the economy what it is right now, I'm just glad I've got some good options.
All in all, things are good. Thanks for checking on us. I hope to have some pictures to share in a few day.
