Happy Holidays!
Happy holidays! We hope you're enjoying the holiday season. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed since I've taken the time to do a proper update on Jackson, and I appreciate the notes I've gotten letting me know he's still in your thoughts. Thank you for always holding him in your hearts - we feel that love and are grateful for it!
Let's see... way back in October was my last update. For Halloween Jackson decided he wanted to be an astronaut!
We did our best to create a rocket suitable for his lofty ambitions, and I think we did a pretty good job.
We stayed near home this year and only went to a few houses, but Jackson enjoyed the whole process even though he opted to give his candy to me rather than eat it himself (oh the things a mother is called on to do for her child!). Maya and Alexa (AKA Miss Bee and Miss Ladybug) also had fun.
Then on to November. Thanksgiving was wonderful, spent at my sister Jennifer's house with loved ones around. Jackson picked some vegetables from his little garden he's growing with Marshall and served them to everyone at the dinner, and he was just as proud as could be about it. He tasted some sweet potatoes at dinner but didn't like them much. After dinner he recited a poem he wrote in school with his teacher about Fall (recorded onto his switch, he activated it line by line). I think that was my favorite part of the whole day.

Fall is the taste of pumpkin pie.
Fall is the smell of apple cider.
Fall is the feel of leaves.
Fall looks like pumpkins.
Isn't that beautiful?
And here we are in December, can you believe it? Another year come and almost gone. Some recent exciting news... Jackson is going to school in January! A spot in the wonderful "AAC" communication-based class opened up (with a little pressure from us a few months ago) and Jackson will begin after the winter break. We're still working on getting him a new talker that uses eye gaze, hopefully that will happen within the next few months. In the mean time there's an eye gaze device in the class that he can be using and learning about until he gets his own. I met with his new team this week and everyone seems great.
I'm nervous about him being exposed to illness, so please send up a prayer or two that he remain healthy. I'm also nervous about leaving him in their care, so I could use a prayer for that too! I'm sure the teacher will be seeing a lot of me in the coming weeks 
.
The girls are doing fabulously - they are just too much fun. Maybe they're saving up all their terrorizing for when they hit two, I don't know, but so far they've been so easy and good natured. We definitely got lucky with these two little girls.
I'll make it a New Year's Resolution to update Jackson's journal more often. Best wishes to you all for a beautiful holiday and many blessings in the new year!!
